Contingency fee arrangements are the best way for people to get high-quality legal representation, without having to pay for it until there is an actual result. Everyone who is injured deserves compensation, and when the defendant is not taking responsibility, they can have access to the best lawyers because of the contingency fee system.
In a contingency fee agreement, the client pays a fee to a lawyer only if the lawyer successfully recovers money for the client. This arrangement is only used in cases where money is being claimed, most often in cases involving personal injury or workers' compensation.
The lawyer agrees to accept a fixed percentage (often one-third) of the recovery, which is the amount finally paid to the client. If your lawyer wins the case, his/her fee comes out of the money awarded to you. If you lose, neither you nor the lawyer will get any money, and you will not be required to pay your attorney for the work done on the case.
